While I don’t know when that day will arrive, the prose have been writing themselves in my head ever since. The songs in that album pierced me. It touched my soul. It was like Kanye was my microphone, articulating things I had been through… Fast forward to present day. I got a text from Jay, essentially my little brother, on Sat morning that read: “Son, this Kendrick album is phenomenal. Oh my goodness. *Oh my lanta. An actual masterpiece…It’s Black therapy in an album. Crazyyy.” He wasn’t lyin!! I’ve listed to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers multiple times through; it gets better with each listen. This album cuts so deep. It made me feel good. It made me uncomfortable. It made me sad. It gave me goosebumps. It made me feel seen.
